A mention of ongoing support

Milemead fisheries is a business created from scratch by two brothers, Paul and Andrew Evenden. The building work started in 1987 – building and developing on 22 acres of rough grazing land at Mill Hill , near Tavistock. Even now, 23 years on, there’s still work in progress with the business still evolving. There are 3 lakes of approximately 2 acres each, and a small canal, offering superb coarse fishing for anglers of all abilities. Additionally,a trout farming part of the business produces up to 20 tons of top quality Rainbow, Blue and Brown Trout, which are sold to restock reservoirs, fisheries, lakes and ponds throughout Devon and Cornwall.

Paul and Andrew, whose mother was treated on Birch ward some years ago are, with their father John, consistent supporters of PDLF and have now totalled £840 over the years. We are very grateful to them for their continued support.

The Christopher Allen Trust

In the newsletter you will have read about some folk raising money which will be used to supply young people having treatment on the ward with gadgets for their entertainment. The family have set up a trust in memory of Chris (the Christopher Allen Trust) and are hoping to contribute to the Young Person’s area of the new ward next year.

Legacy

Bill and Margot

Bill Mitchell had been treated on Birch some years ago and was under the care of the haematology department for a long time. Bill and his wife Margot remembered PDLF in their will and there was a cheque for £83.426.68 presented to Dr. Copplestone by Donna Williams (Bill’s niece) at the AGM. Bill understood the needs of the haematology patient and the couple’s generous gesture will be put to good use for patients like Bill in the future.
